Of all the adoption and migration trends in data and infrastructure management, cloud computing is perhaps the most inevitable. Yet Dresner Advisory Services and other research providers consistently find that business intelligence (BI) success today does not plainly correlate to use of cloud. Furthermore, many successful organizations use cloud BI today, but other successful organizations do not.
Our data find that cloud BI and overall cloud importance is at an all-time high among both users and industry providers. More than 60 percent of enterprises are (at least in part), cloud users, a figure that rises to more than 90 percent when including future sentiment. Even more compelling, current and future industry application and infrastructure development and support are proceeding almost exclusively via cloud-based products and services. This means organizations will, sooner or later, succumb to cloud architectures, at least in part, by necessity.
