The pursuit of making business intelligence (BI) useful is a series of challenges that require comprehending and uniting known technologies, processes, and human skills with business practices and objectives to deliver smarter and better business decisions.
Starting with a comprehensive list of tasks—most of which go back decades—we asked frontline users and those coordinating BI efforts to identify their top BI challenges. Our findings are detailed below, but one conclusion is this: If some familiar BI challenges should be (and are) simpler these days, other challenges are simply more omnipresent in the workplace—and as thorny as ever.
