EPM Market Maturity Masks Cloud Migration and Deployment Issues for the Unwary

Enterprise performance management (EPM) software—around in one form or another since the 1980s—shows increasing evidence of market maturity. In 2022, 54 percent of organizations use EPM software, and only 22 percent of organizations report no plans to adopt it. Furthermore, a majority of organizations (74 percent) consider their EPM implementations very successful or successful.

Many data leaders may assume that in a mature market, vendors addressed most implementation challenges, and deployment of EPM software should be relatively straightforward. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Despite widespread acceptance and adoption of EPM, underlying functional and technical shifts in the market have created issues that can impact customers when they deploy EPM. This is true for organizations new to EPM, as well as those looking to expand the use of EPM.
